Dr. Jacob Adal began his undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Behavior. Dr. Adal continued his education through an APA accredited program in Clinical Psychology at the Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Adal has had various experiences in working in a wide variety of settings, such as: schools, several outpatient community mental health agencies, and treatment centers.
Dr. Adal provides evidence based individual, group, and family psychotherapy at Inspire Malibu and in his private practices located in Thousand Oaks and in West Los Angeles, CA. In his clinical experience, Dr. Adal has had the privilege of working with clientele across various age ranges, cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and diagnoses, such as: trauma, substance abuse, addiction, anxiety, and depression to name a few.
Dr. Adal utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, relaxation training, family systems, and motivational enhancement therapy to meet the specific individual needs of his clientele. He also incorporates mindfulness techniques in his individual and group therapy. Dr. Adal’s approach to therapy encompasses a warm and compassionate style while still therapeutically challenging clients to elicit internal motivation and change.
